Adrian Zecha, founder and chairman of Amanresorts, will receive a lifetime achievement award at ILTM (International Luxury Travel Market) Asia’s Ultratravel Forum on June 13.

Indonesian born Zecha founded the first Amanresort, Amanpuri – which aptly translates into ‘Place of Peace’ in Sanskrit – in 1987 in Thailand. As one of the first small boutique resorts in the region, Amanresorts comprises 23 properties and boasts an impressive staff-to-guest ratio of six to one.

Debbie Joslin, ILTM Exhibition Director commented, “As one of the forefounders of the incredibly high levels of service that the luxury travellers of today expect, we are honoured to be presenting Adrian Zecha with the ILTM 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award”.

Prior to setting up Amanresorts, Adrian Zecha was one of three founding partners of Regent International Hotels in 1972 and was credited with having transformed the company into one of the world’s leading operator/owners of luxury hotels. Besides helming Amanresorts, Zecha is also the non-executive chairman of General Hotel Management Ltd (GHM), a developer and manager of luxury hotels and resorts.

Now in its 5th year, the ultra-exclusive ILTM Asia Ultratravel Forum will be held June 13 at the Shanghai Theatre in Portman Ritz-Carlton. The ILTM Asia event will continue from June 14 to 16 at the adjacent Shanghai Exhibition Centre.
