There was philanthropy aplenty at the Fullerton Hotel last
Friday as it played host to the Boat Asia 2011 Charity Gala, which raised
$151,500 for The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund and Business Times
Budding Artists Fund.
The Charity Gala was graced by more than 200 VIP guests
comprising elite members of the leisure nautical industry as well as esteemed
partners and associates. Together, they were entertained by moving musical
performances from three Child Aid prodigies, NadyaTan as well as brothers Noah and Ethan Ong, the latter
having been featured by CNN as one of the top child prodigies in Asia.
The highlight of the night was undoubtedly the charity
auction which saw guests offering generous bids on 12 exquisite items, including
the innovative new Digital Classic Camera, the Minox DCC 5.1, a luxurious three-night
stay at any of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World properties and an exclusive
RYA Competent Crew Course. The event culminated in a cheque presentation to Ms
Bertha Henson, Organizing Chairman of the Straits Times School Pocket Money
Fund.
Herman Ho, Managing Director of TMX Show Productions, the
producer of Boat Asia, said: “I am heartened to bear witness to the generosity
of Charity Gala guests as they continue to give back to the less fortunate year
after year. We have always been proud of our partnership with The Straits Times
School Pocket Money Fund and look forward to supporting this worthy cause for
as long as we can.”
