Supercar aficionados, get ready to hyperventilate: Lamborghini
has announced it will kick-start limited production of its Sesto Elemento
concept car. The Sesto Elemento, which was shown off to much fanfare at last
year’s Paris Auto Show, is said to be the lightest and fastest supercar in the
world.

According to Lamborghini, the Sesto Elemento does 0-62mph in less than
2.5 seconds, and tops out at more than 200mph. Here’s a wee
catch, though: it’ll be illegal to drive the supercar in public. To achieve
such astronomical speeds, Lamborghini bypassed the safety measures required to render
the monster road legal, making the Sesto Elemento a true-blue millionaire’s
track toy.

Here’s a list of other superlatives the new toy-for-boys boasts: the chassis, for starters, is made almost entirely from carbon fiber—hence
Sesto, which translates to ‘sixth element’, or the atomic number for carbon.

In addition to the cutting-edge design, the tailpipes will
also be wrought from Pyrosic, a glass-ceramic composite that can withstand
temperatures of up to 900 degrees celsius. Power will be delivered by a finely tuned 5.2-liter V10 engine, which will fire up about 600bhp in a car weighing in at less than one ton.

How much, you ask? The price tag is reportedly about USD$3
million – making it possibly the most expensive automobile in the world. Just 20 of these
beauties will be built!
