In light of the Cannes International Film Festival, Louis Vuitton will open a pop-up store next to its original store on the Croisette, from May to August 2011.
In paying homage to both the seaside and the cinema, the décor of the store is littered with motifs of the cinema and the seaside. Echos of Wong Kar Wai’s film In The Mood For Love materialize on the walls in an abstract fan motif. Embedded screens broadcast scenes that mingle the spirit of the French Riviera with that of Shanghai in the Twenties.
With its focus on evening wear, the store will house the brand’s iconic collections, including Cocktail Party by the Pool and a selection of prêt-à–porter, leather goods and accessories designed by Marc Jacobs, the artistic director of Louis Vuitton. There will also be a lounge space to showcase the Maison’s watches and jewelery.
