The stunning Art du Temps wall clock was designed by illi and Julien Ado for a company called designby8. Poignantly, it is not just a concept – it is available for purchase.

While in passive mode, random squares move up and down as if “beating” to indicate the passing of the seconds. That said, when you actually want to see the time, the wall clock strategically moves its squares to reveal a digital clock which uses genuine physical pieces to display the time. The whole process is mechanical – it is not all illusion.

Priced at CHF90,000, the best way to see the clock in all its glory is through this video. Orders will start to be taken in March, with first deliveries expected in fall/winter of 2011.
