Spearheaded by style icon Tarun Tahiliani, the Tarun Tahiliani Design Studio and Signature is housed in Delhi. It is acknowledged as one of India’s premier independent design houses. The Tarun Tahiliani Design Studio houses a team of more than 15 in-house designers who carefully guided by Tarun Tahiliani, working on two distinct lines Spring-Summer and Autumn-Winter. Following Tarun Tahiliani’s Muse, his work follows a design philosophy of classic lines with modern clean cuts. Add to it Indian sensibilities and you get clothing relevant to a contemporary environment and to some of the leading fashionistas the world over. Among recent additions is a range for everyday wear catering to the modern Indian.

He brings to Evoluzione the collection he showed at Wills Lifestyle Fashion Week 2006. It is a bouquet of dreamy summer fantasies, enveloped in shades of white, ecru and warm beige with splashes of colour from a palette that moves on from the short, joyous Indian spring to flatter the sultry Indian summer. Keeping to his signature style, Tarun’s fabric preference veers towards the natural and this collection uses a combination of pure cottons, linens, muslin, stretch cotton and viscose, structured twills and silk jerseys.

The collections this year include skillful combinations on fine traditional embroideries like chikan, playfully twinned with appliqué work to give a fresh look or infused with crochet, pearl appliqué and patched lace work.

Divided into distinct lines, the collection sets off with the signature Tarun Tahiliani line. Taking inspiration from the tulips, flowers and lace, this collection of soft pastels and elegant whites makes an ethereal summer dream. Sarees and lehengas and soft summer jackets form the core garments, in addition to the draped kurtas.

The diffusion line also presents more western variations and includes a range of semi – casual attire with a subtle injection of fun! The line has been inspired by Mughal architecture and includes mirror work matched with delicate sequins. Throw in shirt dresses matched with stretch shorts, cropped white t-shirts and full paneled skirts, soft bolero jackets and jodhpurs for added variety. The diffusion line also includes a special Men’s range which emphasises the classic and comfortable style personally epitomised by the designer. The range includes dinner style shirts, soft classic linen pants and formal wear.

The new Tarun Tahiliani – everyday wear range epitomizes his dream. Specially designed keeping in mind the Indian summer, this range is a toast to the growing young urban Indian for whom independence, comfort and a sense of self have created a demand for unique clothing. It is at once trendy and epitomises the global Indian. It includes shirts, pants, shirt dresses, kurtas, kaftan tunics, capris, slips and camisoles that the user will mix and match at her discretion for an accessible price.

Tarun Tahiliani also has dedicated signature stores in Mumbai and Delhi for his premium clientele.

Sun-kissed bronze, rust, ochre, antique gold and burnt umber highlighted by ivory and the colours of the night on silks, satins and velvet fabrics underline the creations in Tarun Tahiliani’s portfolio. The silhouettes, though form fitted, are comfortable, and fabrics have the feel and fall of luxury. Evolving and moving forward from his previous collection, which was strongly influenced by the woven designs from central Asia and the Middle East, this season Tarun focuses closely on the ancient Indian Design craft of Jamevar and the intricacies of Victorian lace textures.
