Legendary Vogue US editor Anna Wintour has been bestowed the
Legion d’Honneur by French President Nicolas Sarkozy, no less, at a ceremony at
the Elysee Palace last week that was attended by cheering glitterati.
Wintour was awarded a Chevalier (Knight) of the Order, an
honor established by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1802 and the highest order of
decoration in France.
Wearing hot-off-the-runway Chanel Couture, Anna
accepted her pin in front of an audience that included Bernard Arnault, Karl
Lagerfeld, Stefano Pilati, Donatella Versace, Tommy Hilfiger, Alber Elbaz,
Franca Sozzani, and Riccardo Tisci.
The latest fete comes following Wintour’s induction into The
Order of the British Empire, when she was granted OBE
status by Queen Elizabeth in 2008.
