Charlene Wittstock, the new Princess of Monaco, has so far enjoyed
a fairytale wedding, with no end to the delightful gifts bestowed upon her.
Now, Ateliers deMonaco, the independent watch manufacture based in the
principality, has created its first watch for ladies named in her honor: the La
Sirene.

The watch has received official approval from the princess and her
husband, Prince Albert II. The petal-like topaz detailing radiating from the
center of the dial represents the
King Protea, the national flower of South Africa and a symbol of
resilience. Blue topaz was chosen as the gemstone for the flower setting
because of the color’s association with the princess’ blue eyes and water, which
in turn recalls the princess’ career as a South African Olympic swimmer.

The La
Sirene is housed in a 39 mm, 18k white gold case, with the automatic
silicon movement and a hand engraved rotor on the reverse side of the
timepiece.

The watch’s name is based on the princess’ nickname—“La Sirène”—an
affectionate moniker that honors her swimming achievements and, again, the
color of her eyes. The limited edition timepiece will retail starting at US$11,5688.
