When they built the world’s biggest superyacht, Roman Abramovich’s Eclipse, German shipyard Blohm & Voss didn’t make a profit. Instead, they actually lost $300 million.

The vessel spans 558 feet and six years ago the shipyard signed an ironclad contract with the Russian billionaire to complete the project for €340 million (about $485 million). However after several delays, the actual cost of the superyacht reportedly soared to €570 million, roughly $785 million.

All in all it means B+V has had to stump up $300 million to finish the boat, which alone equates to about 2/3rd of the project’s initial estimate.
