Bottega Veneta has unveiled its first watch, BVX, a unisex timepiece produced in collaboration with the Sowind Group, owner of Girard-Perregaux.
Designed expressly for Bottega Veneta and assembled from elements of 18-karat rose gold, the automatic movement offers date and small second functions. The 41mm case, meanwhile, is made from brushed titanium, finished with a PVD coating in the brand’s signature brunito color.
A curved sapphire crystal also covers the face and the underside of the watch which leaves the workings completely exposed, including a single screw which runs through the entire watch from top to bottom.
“Bottega Veneta’s cornerstones – artisanal craftsmanship, fine-quality materials, contemporary functionality, and timeless design – lend themselves perfectly to watches,” explained Bottega Veneta Creative Director, Tomas Maier. “For us, this introduction is a natural step in the evolution of the brand. Working with the Girard-Perregaux team enabled us to marry Bottega Veneta’s core values with the finest watchmaking expertise in the world.”
“There are lots of small details designed solely for the wearer’s pleasure. For example, the crown is placed not at 3 o’clock but a little lower, so if you wear the watch on your left wrist it won’t dig into your hand. The band is easily adjustable, so if you’re playing tennis and want to loosen it for a few hours, you can do that.”
The Bottega Veneta watch will be available at the end of the year at select Bottega Veneta stores worldwide.
