What’s the Cannes Film Festival without a good cause to raise a shooter of top-shelf vodka to? On May 13, 2011, the lush VIP Room was stuffed to its gills with
celebrities and bigwigs from the entertainment and film industry.
The occasion was the European launch of Belvedere’s Red bottle,
a special edition bottle of the premium vodka that will raise proceeds for the
Global Fund, the world’s leading financier of programs to fight AIDS,
Tuberculosis and Malaria.
Following previous endorsements by music icons Debbie Harry and Grace Jones,
Belvedere Vodka flew in Grammy award-winning group, Duran Duran, to entertain Cannes
revelers with a high-octane performance, complete with classic Belvedere
cocktails.
Commenting on the gig, Duran Duran said: “We are thrilled to be able to come
to Cannes—undoubtedly the world’s
most glamorous film festival—to perform in support of Belvedere Red.”
“The fight against HIV/AIDs is a problem that affects every single one of us,
and we are always delighted to find ways in which we can make a contribution.
This is a great party for a great cause.”
