Wine collectors and oenophiles the world over are in for a treat this April, when Christie’s hosts a marathon, 36-hour wine sale in Hong Kong and New York. The bottle corks will begin popping on April 9 with a luncheon at Christie’s Hong Kong viewing gallery at Alexandra House, where an array of the finest and rarest ambrosia will be paired with nosh specially prepared by the Mandarin Oriental, followed closely by the sale at New York’s Rockefeller Center at 10 a.m. EST.

The HK sale will feature 1,023 lots valued at over HK$86-110
million (US$11-14 million).  Highlights from the first day of the event include vintage 2005 Château Lafite Rothschilds and other exceptional wines from The SK Networks
Collection. The second day will showcase an exquisite collection of rare Pétrus
and mature DRC.

Over at the NY site, more than 800
fine wines estimated at a total of US$1,887,300 – 2,741,700 will be up for auction, chief among which will be the vintage 1961 Château Latour, valued at US$22,000-35,000 per dozen, and a selection of aged Riesling from the cellars of renowned
German wine importer Paul Mann, including the exceedingly rare 1934
Wachenheimer Luginsland Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese.
