Diane von Furstenberg’s perfumes are rare and precious, not least because she has only released four so far – the floral infused Tatiana (named after her daughter, how cute) in 1975, Volcan D’Amour (inspired by a tumultuous love affair with Brazilian Paulo Fernandes) in 1981, D in 2003 and the recently unveiled Diane.

In an interview with WWD, the fashion jet-setter said of her latest concoction “I wanted to put the power of women in a bottle, I feel like in the past 10 years people have forgotten the magic that a perfume can have, and the power that it has. And therefore, I definitely wanted to do something powerful and seductive, without being aggressive.”

Developed by perfumer Aurélien Guichard and under the license of ID Beauty, Diane will include notes of frangipani blossoms and violet. Available in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum with matching body products, Diane is expected to hit stores by October 2011.
