An
assemblage of press and Ferrari fanatics gathered in The Peninsula last Friday as
Edwin Fenech, president and CEO of Ferrari Great China and Richard Lee,
chairman of Italian Motors (Sales & Service) joined hands to unveil Ferrari’s
first four-seater and four-wheel drive car – the revolutionary Ferrari Four (FF).

A
new take on the sporting Grand Tourer theme, Ferrari Four melds innovation with
functionality. The first GDI V12 to be coupled with the seven-speed F1
dual-clutch gearbox, the FF V12 has a maximum torque of 683 Nm at 6,000 rpm
with 500Nm already available at just 1,000 rpm, ensuring a top speed of 355km
per hour. Fuel consumption stands at 15.4 litres per 100 km with CO2 emissions
at 360g/km, a 25 per cent reduction compared to previous V12s – attributed in
part to the HELE system, which incorporates Stop and Start technology.

While
the transaxle architecture is an aesthetic nod to the brand’s long-standing
status as the leading producer of sports cars, the engine (new castings)
and bodyshell (new aluminium alloys and production processes) have been
lightened to produce an impressive weight-power ratio of 2.7 kg/CV. Third generation
Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes have also been installed to boost power.

FF is equipped with a rear-seat infotainment system that
comes with two screens for watching TV and DVD, as well as a 1,280 watt,
16-channel stereo system with Dolby Surround Sound. Styled by Cambiano-based
Pininfarina, FF guarantees comfort with its body-hugging seats and spacious
cabin. The car trunk deserves special mention as its original capacity – 450 liters
– can be extended to a voluminous 800 liters when the rear seats are being
lowered. FF is offered in six exclusive colors.
