For the 25th time, Omega will reprise its celebrated role as
the Official Timekeeper for the London 2012 Olympic Games. As the 500 day countdown
to the start of the London Games began, the Omega Countdown Clock in Trafalgar
Square was unveiled on March 14.

As the clock lit up in Trafalgar
Square, President of Omega, Stephen Urquhart,
said: ‘In 1948, the last time the Olympic Games were held in this city, OMEGA
was responsible for timing each discipline in every sport.’

‘That edition of the Games is remembered for the
technological milestones in timekeeping: the photoelectric cell, our
fully-automated timing system and the first photofinish camera ever used at an
Olympic Games. Then, as now, we were proud to be at the service of the
International Olympic Committee and the world’s great athletes.’

To commemorate Omega’s continued timekeeping
role for the prestigious sporting spectacle, the Swiss luxury watchmaker has also launched
the Seamaster Aqua Terra 44 London Chronograph in two elegant configurations.

Water-resistant to a
depth of 500ft, the first version, presented on a lush black leather strap, features
a bicolor case swathed in gleaming 18 Ct red gold and stainless steel. The second is cast from rugged stainless steel and presented with a matching bracelet.
The case back conceals a dramatic flourish: flip the special edition timepiece over
and you’ll see a beautifully stamped London 2012 Olympic emblem.
