Lotus has confirmed that it will start production on its City Car Concept, unveiled in Paris at last year’s motor show. To be rebranded the Ethos, the new environmentally-friendly automobile boasts a streamlined, reduced size, a clean plug-in hybrid drivetrain and a short EV range, all of which will minimize fuel cost and maximise its targeted urban users’ benefits.

The Ethos will be rolled out in 2014, with an initial output of about 1,500 to 1,800 cars. Pricing is expected to start at around £30,000 (US$48,000). Lotus said in a statement that it has yet to decide on the final version of the car, which may be offered as a battery-electric or hybrid model. We’ll keep you updated on model specifications and further information as they emerge.
