Turkey-based Dream Ship Victory has been contracted to
construct a new 141-metre sailing superyacht, destined to become the world’s
largest. A construction schedule with a five-year build plan has begun, making
for a launch date of 2016. Naval architects Dykstra & Partners and Ken
Freivokh Design collaborated with DSV’s Valeriy Stepanenko on the Art
Deco-inspired all-wood behemoth. The identity of the persons who commissioned
this giant has not yet been revealed.

Rigged with four massive masts, DSV’s dreadnought will be a
site to behold. The all-wood design will use up a fair number of trees, but
DSV’s green credentials are solidly in place with the use of carefully selected
tropical woods, a ‘totally renewable resource’. If DSV can pull it off, it will
propel the yard into a new realm. Their other yachts – the 65-meter Mikhail
Vorontsov, Princess Maria (55 m) and Imagination (42 m) –
are all considerably smaller in scale. But then again, just about everything
else will be dwarfed next to this stately beast.
